Okinawa Gelato by South and North Pop-up in Singapore

Okinawa best voted gelato as well as choice gelato in Tokyo Disney land has now launch it's first pop-up here in our sunny island!

Do you know why is Gelato better than ice cream??

- Gelato is more flavorful

- You get more bang for your buck (as its denser )

- Gelato is healthier as it contains less fat (That's because ice cream uses lots of heavy cream, while gelato uses milk. Gelato also uses far fewer egg yolks than ice cream). Most of the gelato contains 5% fat while popular ice cream brand range between 15-30%.

Uniqueness - Uses only Hokkaido & Yamakawa milk.

- Uses the natural flavours found in Okinawa. E.g: 100% Natural favours Purple sweet potato, Salted milk (using high quality sea salt mineral, Island Tofu (1x3 Times higher protein and widely associated as a "Longevity Food" in Okinawa

- Gelato made using tradition confectionery method i.e. In line with Okinawa tradition - They visit farmers & producers to select the finest ingredients suitable to bring out the Natural finest.

-No artificial essence to enhance.

What Gelato flavour does they offer here?

- Salted milk : Made using Nuchi masu salt. Seawater is drawn off the coast of Miyagi Island. This sea salt contain high in minerals and it can accentuated the creaminess of the milk flavor. This tasted really milky or I should say "salted vanilla"?

- Shikuwasa sorbet : Made in ogimi village. The tangu sweetness of the green fruit is surprising refreshing and fruity. The mild sweet and sour taste really surprised us with first taste in mouth!

- Purple sweet potato : From Yomitan village and Miyako island. The purple sweet potato is made into velvety paste before blending into the gelato. The overall taste combined a mild sweetness and intense potato “punch” less savoury than Yam.

- Okinawa Tofu : Made in Nanho city. Okinawan tofu, being extremely high in protein, is often referred to as “longevity food”. The overall gelato is gently rich with Okinawa soybeans and I thought there's some tofu crumbs bits in it? YUMMY!!!.

- Black/Red Tea : Made in Kunigami Village. A unique Okinawa tea leaves from Inzatsu Assam variety offer an full aroma character. The strong tea fragrance tasted like Earl Grey. Sorry actually I'm not sure how earl grey taste too because I'm not a tea drinker. :p

- Brown Sugar : Made in Tarama Village. This gelato offer a sweetness with a complex, mineral-rich finish just like "Gula Melaka".

- Meyer Lemon yogurt : Meyer Lemon is a natural hybrid of lemon and orange. this is a unique yogurt suitable alternative after heavy dinner. We really love how unique the taste of this lemon and orange mix taste. So refreshing!

- Matcha : Using tea leaves from Shizouka Prefecture, this gelato has intense yet slightly bitter after-taste. Great for matcha lover who is looking for the real matcha “punch”.

- Cheese : Made in Ishigaki Island using milk from Jersey cows. It’s mild, yet refined. Too bad they don't have the stock at the venue as yet for me to bring one home! It's really nice mild cheese taste... Next time!!
